Our charter fishing season in Kewaunee runs from Memorial Day thru October. The species we target are Chinook (King) Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), and Brown Trout.
Our charters typically leave the dock an hour before sunrise. In the mid-summer months of June and July this means we’re leaving around 4am. This provides us with time to get to the fishing grounds and deploy our gear by sunrise, as the best bite often happens early in the morning. You can expect to meet us at the dock several minutes prior to departure, where we’ll help you board the boat, load any gear you choose to bring (coolers, extra clothing, etc), and we’ll take off from there. Once we’re on the fishing grounds, the captain and first mate will deploy the gear, and it is up to you how involved you’d like to be.
All our fishing is done by trolling. We’ll typically set a spread of about 12 fishing lines. Novices may choose to just kick back and enjoy the sunrise while the crew gets everything ready, whereas more experienced fishermen are more than welcome to learn and do some of the gear setting themselves. When the first fish bites you’ll be the first to the rod to start fighting it!
Once fishing is complete for the day, you can choose to take some photos of your catch if you’d like, then your catch will be filleted on board the boat before returning to the dock. We bulk pack your fillets into large bags and we will supply ice for you to transport them home (please bring a cooler to transport your fish home). If you’re planning to stay several days, we can arrange vacuum sealing and freezing of your fish for you overnight for a small fee.
