Welcome to Maxwells Group, a Wisconsin Fishing Directory started in February, 2021. Our names are Kevin Frontz and Dustin Amenda, both born and raised in Belmont, WI, in the far southwest corner of the state. This represents our friendship, passion for fishing, and most importantly each of our sons, Max and Wells, hence the name Maxwells. We have created this as a tool to help all others looking to book their own fishing trips across the state. We’ve been building listings now for 10 months, developing a website has been no easy feat, but when it is built around a hobby you love, it makes the lessons learned much easier. As we researched and developed the site from the ground up ourselves, we talked to many different business owners around the state, whether it be guides, bait shops, or resorts, and gathered great feedback and a welcoming community. Our focus is simple, we want Maxwells to be a free directory, both listings and usage.
On our site, you will find three main listing categories: Bait Shops, Guides, and Resorts & Lodges. We began our work on Bait Shops and Guides to make the build as manageable as possible. We feel at this time, we’ve listed nearly every bait shop in the state. We have over 100 guides listed and know this build will be a big feat to get the rest, but we’re up for it. We are happy to list any guide in the state if they either reach out to us or create the listing themselves through the Site. Finally, we’ve done a few Resorts & Lodges, either those we’ve stayed at or are also one of the other two categories we’ve created. Again, reaching out to us or creating a listing is a great way to get more of these listings up across the state.
The other idea we had was our Tribute Page, anyone can submit a nomination here. A tributary, as all Anglers know, is a river or stream that flows into a larger river or lake. Without it, many of the waters we fish would dry up or not have been created at all. But, it also means to pay acknowledgement to a powerful person, and this may be as valuable as the flowing water itself. We all have someone in our life who helped us become the Angler we are today, have you paid tribute to them? We always seem to wait until after a person’s last cast to say what they truly meant to us. We offer time now to pay tribute to a person who influenced you, is a tributary to your life, and filled your lake, so they can see just what they mean to you.
Additionally, what we are sending here and will post to the site is our Lodge Talk. We intend to share fresh new content, either from ourselves or other businesses across the state. We want this to bring valuable, enjoyable content to our readers.
As we’ve reached out, we have gotten the repeat question, “how much does it cost or what’s the catch?”. To be frank, we started with clear intentions to be able to say, it is free to list your business, free to the angler to use, and there is no a catch. The only catch we want involved is a fish on the end of your line. See, we are two small town friends, looking to help out the fellow angler. We hope we can partner with people to provide many stories of bait shop offerings and products, guide services, resort stays and amenities, cooking methods and recipes and more…..rather than just another feed of fish pictures, we’ll leave that to the pro anglers. We find the stops, experiences, and people you meet throughout trips can be as memorable as the fish you catch. We’d like to see our page grow to provide as much value to the angler as possible, support the businesses listed, and see where the road takes us. How we expand will be an exciting trip, time will tell where we go, so we are always looking for input. So, if you have ideas of what you’d like to see, if you’d like to share content to promote yourself or business through video, writing or other means, please drop us a line, we can assure you it will be one of us two responding or calling you to talk it over.
Thanks for your interest in Maxwells, we hope you can find value here and become part of our community to make the sport of fishing even better than it is today! If you will, please share our story, website or Facebook page with friends and family, the more the merrier, we’d love to share all the great, free content with all.
Sincerely, Dustin and Kevin.
